Ecological problems are developing with increasing dynamics and relevance: climate change, pol-lutant emissions, loss of land and the dramatic extinction of species make profound transfor-mation processes in all areas of society inevitable. Accordingly, ecological issues are increasingly adressed in mass media discourses, in business, politics, education and art. What can be done in the respective areas? What role do individual and collective actors play?
Following on from concepts of participative art, which the Kasseler Kunstverein recently focused on with “wetransform” (February – March 2019), the project “Artificial Ecologies” explores pos-sibilities for art to act. Art becomes a habitat of the ecological, a creative space of artistic, social and ecological processes.
